Eligibility Criteria for NDA 1 2026

Aspiring candidates must strictly adhere to the eligibility parameters set by the UPSC. Failure to meet any of these will lead to immediate disqualification.

1. Nationality

A candidate must be either:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.

2. Age Limit & Marital Status

  • Age Range: Candidates must have been born between July 02, 2007, and July 01, 2010.
  • Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible. Candidates must undertake not to marry until they complete their full training period.

3. Educational Qualification

  • For Army Wing of NDA: Must have passed 12th Class (10+2) or equivalent from a recognized State Education Board or University.
  • For Air Force & Navy Wings of NDA (and 10+2 Cadet Entry at NA): Must have passed 12th Class with Physics and Mathematics from a recognized Board/University.
  • Appearing Candidates: Those currently appearing in the 12th Class (10+2) examination in 2026 are also eligible to apply.

Selection Process for NDA 2026

The selection process is rigorous, designed to test both intellectual capability and leadership potential:

  1. Written Examination: Conducted by UPSC, consisting of Mathematics and a General Ability Test (GAT).
  2. SSB Interview: Candidates who clear the written cutoff are invited for the Intelligence and Personality Test conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).
  3. Medical Examination: Finalists must meet the required physical and medical standards for the Armed Forces.
