The AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) is conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to select eligible candidates for various branches such as Flying Branch, Ground Duty (Technical), and Ground Duty (Non-Technical). | Selection Process For Air force AFCAT |
- Online Written Exam (AFCAT)
- Mode: Online (Computer-based test)
- Duration: 2 hours
- Subjects Covered: General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test
- For EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test): Candidates applying for technical branches (AE) will also take EKT – 45 minutes duration.
- 2. Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Interview
- Candidates who qualify the written exam are called for the AFSB Interview in one of the selection centers (Dehradun, Mysuru, Gandhinagar, Varanasi).
- It includes:
- Stage I:
- Officer Intelligence Rating Test (OIR)
- Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT)Candidates who do not qualify Stage I are sent back the same day.
- Stage II:
- Psychological Tests
- Group Tests
- Personal Interview
- Conference
- For Flying Branch candidates, the Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) test is also conducted.
- 3. Medical Examination
- Candidates recommended by AFSB will undergo medical tests at Air Force medical centers.
- 4. Final Merit List
- A final merit list is prepared based on performance in the written exam and AFSB Interview (subject to medical fitness and vacancy availability).

- Choose AFCAT 02/2025 Cycle under the candidate login section.
- Click on “New User? Register here” (if you’re applying for the first time).
- Registration
- Fill in the required details:
- Name (as per 10th certificate)
- Father’s Name
- Mother’s Name
- Email ID
- Mobile Number
- Nationality
- Security Question/Password for future login
- A confirmation will be sent to your registered email.
- Login and Fill Application Form
- Use your registered email and password to log in. Then:
- Choose the branch you want to apply for (Flying, Ground Duty Tech/Non-Tech)
- Fill in personal, educational, and communication details
- Choose AFCAT Exam Centers (from the list)
- Upload Documents
