1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST)

• PET: Candidates must complete a race within a given time (usually 1.6 km in 6 minutes 30 seconds for male candidates; may vary).

• PST: Measurement of height, chest (for males), and weight as per prescribed standards.

• Candidates who fail in PET or PST are disqualified.

2. Documentation

• Candidates’ educational, age, caste, and other documents are verified.

• Only those who qualify PET/PST are called for documentation.

3. Trade Test

• This is a practical test related to the specific trade (e.g., Cook, Barber, Sweeper, Cobbler, etc.).

• The candidate’s skill in the trade is tested.

4. Written Examination

• Objective-type test (OMR/CBT mode).

• Subjects: General Awareness, Knowledge of Elementary Mathematics, Analytical Aptitude, and Basic Knowledge of English/Hindi.

• Duration: Usually 2 hours, total 100 marks.

5. Medical Examination

• Candidates who qualify in all above stages are medically examined.

• Must meet medical standards as per CISF rules.

6. Final Selection:

• Based on merit in the written exam and subject to qualifying other stages.

• Final merit list prepared trade-wise and category-wise.
